Alexander Joseph “AJ” Muckin, 92, of Shawnee, died Thursday, April 8, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Medical Center of Midwest City. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2021, at the New Hope Cemetery of Meeker. The casket will be open at the cemetery for friends. AJ was born March 5, 1929, in Sayreville, New Jersey, to Joseph and Amelia (Kulesa) Muckin. He was raised in Sayreville, graduating high school there, then joined the United States Air Force. While he was stationed at Tinker AFB he met and later married Lavinia” Mikie” Frazier on February 18, 1955. The couple made their home in Nicoma Park after AJ’s Air Force retirement and he continued to work at Tinker. Following their retirement they moved to Missouri for a while, then returned to Shawnee. The couple had two sons Stephen and Paul. AJ enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, watching game shows on TV, especially “Jeopardy”. He enjoyed outings to the local casinos and was an avid OSU fan. Survivors include two sisters Irene Vanto and Genevieve Tuttle both of New Jersey; a daughter-in-law Susan “Susie” Muckin of Oklahoma City; granddaughter Lindsey and husband Quay Prough, Jr. of Choctaw; greatgrandchildren Austin, Tyler, Aubrey and Jeremiah; and nieces Beth and husband Jerry Hooper, and Patsy Frazier all of Meeker. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mikie, son Stephen and Paul, and by many brothers and sisters. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Asa Smith Funeral Service of Harrah.
