ALLEN LOUIS MICHAEL
Allen Louis Michael, 82, of Newalla, OK passed from this life to his rewards in Heaven on May 14, 2023, at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born September 20, 1940, in Walker, IA to Theodore and Agnes Wilson Michael. After graduation from Walker High School, he enlisted in the US Army.
As a small town, Iowa farm boy, military life was a culture shock. In basic training at Fort Carson, CO, he was introduced to burr haircuts, "No Sir" and "Yes Sir" and double time everywhere he went. With basic training behind him, he attended several communication and missile system repair schools and became a full-time student, spending most of his 3-year career attending various schools, all physically located in the South.
His last military assignment was at Fort Sill, OK which was significant because it was there it ultimately "cost him his freedom" after meeting and realizing that Louella Lee Hall was the girl he needed to fill the void in his life. They were married in Norman, OK on September 23, 1961, and have lived in the McLoud area for 45 years. A son and two daughters were born to the couple, making their marriage complete. Allen was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in McLoud.
Allen's civilian work career was patterned after the training he received in the military. He worked for a short time for Dorsett Laboratories and in June 1962 became a civilian electronics technician until his retirement 32 years later. He earned a BA Degree in Business Management and was Branch Chief over Aircraft Maintenance Scheduling.
After a few years of enjoying retirement, riding the tractor around their 10 acres, gardening and fishing, he became the Sergeant at Arms at the Oklahoma House of Representatives where his wife had been a Legislative Assistant since 1982. They enjoyed working together, knowing the same people and being an interesting and "fun job" for both.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Tommy, Hubert and David and a grandson Bradley Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife Louella of the home; a son Tyler Louis Michael and wife Christal of Genoa, Ill; two daughters, Mindy Lea and husband Bryan Mitchell of Newalla and Michelle Lea and wife Holly Michael of Choctaw; four brothers, Roger Michael and wife Karen, Charles Michael and Jim and Mary Jo Michael, all of Iowa and Bill Michael of California; three sisters, Rita Basquin of Iowa, Judy Martinez of California and Teresa and husband Jeff Lawless of Iowa; Grandchildren: Katie and Dakota Newsome, Laura and Bernie King, Joshua Michael, Jeremy and Ashleigh Hulsey and Mariah and Jack Garner; Great-grandchildren: Damon and Nova Brown, Louella Garner, Riley Poznanski, Landon Poznanski, Emerson Newsome, Luke King, Emma Young.
