Anita Joyce Benedix

Anita Joyce Benedix, 82, of Harrah left this life for her Eternal Reward in Heaven on February 25, 2019 at her home in Harrah. She was born June 27, 1936 to Clarence Elvis and Dovie Bee DuBoise Shields. She loved to cook, especially for family gatherings. She also enjoyed quilting, crafts and painting, enjoyed working in her flower garden and her vegetable garden. Anita always seemed to have homemade baked goods or sweets when people stopped in. She also loved and cared for her chickens. She played the piano, organ and fiddle and sang on the radio. One of the highlights of her musical career was meeting Loretta Lynn. But her favorite thing in life was loving and being around her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jimmie and brothers, Don and Terry Shields. Survivors include her son Dannie (Tori) Benedix of Harrah; two daughters, Paula McDaniel of McLoud and Terri (Duane) Richardson of Harrah; a sister Janice (Dick) Tomlinson of Tecumseh;7 grandchildren, Kevin, Donnie, Jeremy, Stefan, Shelby, Mackenzie and Lucas; and 7 great-grandchildren, Riley, Madisyn, Gavyn, Jaxson, Taylor, Avery and Dylan. Graveside services will be Friday, March 1 at 2 p.m. at Dale Cemetery under direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah, with Mr. Mike Mazzalongo officiating.
