Anthony L. (Tony) DeArmond, age 71, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born April 21,1947 in Chandler, OK, the son of Floyd and Melba (Johnson) DeArmond. Tony married his wife Sharon (King) DeArmond on August 20, 1968 in Erick, OK. Tony grew up in Harrah, OK and was a 1965 graduate of Harrah High School, Southwestern State College in Weatherford, OK in 1969, and served in the United State Air Force from 1969-1972. Tony served in Korea during the Vietnam War and upon return worked as a lab technician at Andrews Air Force base in Washington D.C. Tony and Katy returned to Oklahoma in 1973 and Tony began his career with OG&E later that year as an Assistant Results Engineer. During his thirty plus year tenure with OG&E Tony served as an Chemistry Superintendent, Strategic Coordinator Power Supply and Manager of Strategic Work Management Process. In 1998 Tony left OG&E and formed DeArmond Consulting, LLC. Tony worked throughout the United States as an SAP project consultant until he returned to OG&E in 2001. Tony retired from OG&E in 2011. Tony was very passionate about his hobbies which included fishing, riding and racing motorcycles, cycling including competitive mountain biking and photography. Tony was a member of Choctaw Road Baptist Church and loved helping with church video activities. Tony's greatest passion in life was his family. He invested his heart and soul into his wife Katy, daughter Kristin, son Neil and all six grandchildren. Tony and Katy enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Galapagos Islands, Croatia and surrounding countries, Canada, a Caribbean cruise, Colorado river rafting, Ireland, several national parks and Alaska during their fifty-one years of marriage. Tony worked hard giving his full attention to any activity he was involved in. Tony spent hours researching topics of interest and would share his knowledge with everyone. Tony logged many miles driving Kristin to swim meets, Neil to motocross races, striper fishing at Lake Texoma, trout fishing on Blue River and racing mountain bikes across Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Texas. Tony made life long friends where ever he went and would help anyone in need. Tony was preceded in death by his father Floyd J. DeArmond, his mother Melba R. DeArmond, father-in-law and mother-in-law Harrold and Ruth King. Tony is survived by his wife Katy of the home; daughter, Kristin (Martin) Trerise of Sherwood,OR; son Neil (Tiffani) DeArmond of Stillwater, OK; sisters, Sharon (Allen) Dyer of Harrah, Connie (Monte) Morast of Jamestown, ND; grandchildren, Logan DeArmond, Joshua Trerise, Gabriel Trerise, Emily DeArmond, Samuel Trerise and Nathaniel Trerise and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Asa Smith funeral home. A memorial service honoring Tony's life will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Choctaw Road Baptist Church, 14971 East Reno Avenue, Choctaw, OK with Bro. Rick Sowell officiating. Family Interment at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK, will be held prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Tony's name to SSM Health St. Anthony Foundation or Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at www.tribute.themmrf.org/TonyDeArmond.
