Bill Cargill, 73, of Harrah went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on July 28, 2018 after a brave fight against cancer. Bill was born in Fairfax, OK to Clarence William and Nancy Alice (Spurgeon) Cargill and grew up in OKC and CA. Bill's passion was his family--his wife, sons, and most especially his grandchildren. Father figures he loved greatly were his father-in-law, Leroy, and his brother, Kenneth. He was a very generous person who was always reaching out with a helping hand to anyone in need. Bill attended many schools while growing up, and he always wanted to give his own sons a much more stable home life. He started grade school in Farmersville, CA and Poplar, CA. Then in Oklahoma, he attended Westwood (4th), Willard (5th & 6th), Central Junior Sr High (7th-8th), NW Classen (half 9th), Star Spencer (half 9th), Midwest City (10th and start of 11th), and then back to CA, Bakersfield HS (finish 11th & 12th/1963). Bill was always good at any sport he played--especially winning tournaments in pingpong and bowling. In 1957, he, along with his Junior Optimist Club's baseball team were pictured in the Oklahoma City Times. He never forgot the Optimist’s kindness for taking them downtown to a hotel for a steak dinner. The Willard team won the westside district midget B league of the YMCA junior baseball program. Also, Bill was a proud member of the OKC Public Schools 6th grade champion relay team at Willard Elementary. Bill served in the U.S. Army (67-68) and was stationed in Germany. He retired from the Teamsters Union after 30 years. He worked in printing and flooring companies before becoming a warehouseman at Humpty Dumpty Warehouse. He then was hired by Safeway (Homeland; AWG) grocery warehouse in OKC. Married for 47 years (m September 1970), Bill actually met his surviving wife, Sharon (Ann) when she was two years old when he came with his sister to visit her mother. Also surviving him are his two sons, Lance and Chad, and 9 grandchildren. Also, his brother Kenneth, and his sister Patricia. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Delmar, sisters, Jimmie and Glenda, Also predeceased are Bill’s half siblings Jackie, Barbara, Talmage, & Clyde. Half siblings surviving are David, Douglas, Dennis, Beverly, Connie, Debbie, and Susie. Bill was a constant presence in the lives of his kids and grandkids. They especially loved seeing him at their games and practices. He was not only “Papa Bill” but a very good friend to them. We will miss his encouragement and wise advice. He is deeply missed, but we have an eternal hope and will see him again (1 Thess. 4:13-14). Bill’s family thanks the caregivers at OKC’s VA Hospital—especially the invaluable blessings of the Oncology and Palliative Departments (Jerry Sidders and Pam Burrow) and McCortney Family Hospice (Maggie, Julie, and Jennifer) for their compassionate care. Services will be held at Harrah First Assembly of God, 19751 Manek Dr, Harrah, OK on Friday, August 3 at 10 a.m. with Rev.
