DR. CAROLYN ANN GREGORY

Longtime Harrah resident and beloved educator Dr. Carolyn Ann Gregory, 73, passed from this life to her rewards in Heaven on December 14, 2023, in Edmond. She was born to Tommy and Alva Owens in Howe, OK, on May 19, 1950. The family came to Harrah from Jones in 1956 and Carolyn graduated from Harrah High School in 1968.

Carolyn earned her BA Degree in Education at East Central State College in Ada, and a Master’s Degree at University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. She then had the great joy to be awarded her PHD at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater just one day prior to her daughter Amanda earning her BA.

She was an elementary school teacher for a total of 36 years, with 34 of those years in Harrah.. She then continued her teaching career as a professor at Oklahoma Baptist University for 8 years where she greatly enjoyed being an instructor for prospective teachers.

She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Harrah where she was active and served as Childrens’ Minister in 1995.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Linda McKinley.

Survivors include her daughter Amanda Ross and husband Quincy and granddaughters Avery and Riley; a brother David Owens and wife Lisa of Seminole and their children and grandchildren; a niece Tricia Evans and husband Mike and their daughter; and a nephew Gerad McKinley and wife Karie, their children and a granddaughter.

The family will be present to receive visitors at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 2023.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023, at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel with Gary Eubanks officiating. Interment will be in Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah. Online condolences may be made at www.asasmith.net
