Carolyn Gertrude O’Bryant, 77, of Choctaw passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024, in Midwest City. Carolyn was born August 12, 1947, in Oklahoma City, to Herman E and Edith Irene (Reynolds) Milburn. She was reared and educated in West Texas and St. Louis, Oklahoma. She married Olen O’Bryant on June 7, 1963. The couple made their home “wherever the work was” including Shady Nook, Nicoma Park, Woodward before moving to the Choctaw area in 1976. Carolyn was a devoted member of the Harrah Church of Christ. She attended service twice on Sunday’s, Wednesday evenings and enjoyed the fellowship of the Women’s Bible Study each Monday. She really enjoyed her bible correspondence courses where she helped teach the word of the Lord to inmates from several prisons here in Oklahoma. In her younger years she made clothes for the family, later in life she crocheted Afghans for all her grandsons and then for her great granddaughters.
She loved to help Olen in the garden and liked to harvest and preserve their vegetables. She enjoyed working in the yard. She loved taking care of her plants and flowers around the property. The couple loved being in the great outdoors. After her children were well established in school Carolyn joined the work force as a bank teller for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, of 60 years Olen, and a brother Ben Milburn.
Survivors include a daughter Ella and husband Mike Dyer of Wellston; son Glen of Texarkana, Texas; son Alen of Helena; a sister Sandra and husband Glenn Ingram of Konawa; and three grandchildren Joseph Dyer of Jones, Andrew Dyer of Jones and Terry O’Bryant of Harrah. Three great granddaughters Kinley, Willow, and Aria Dyer all of Jones.
Friends may pay their respects Thursday from 1:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Dale Cemetery, West of Shawnee.
