Nothing can prepare a person for loss. Especially when that loss is a man like Charles. Charles Boyce Lindley, 96, passed away on the evening of Sunday, August 22, 2021. The family and church are creating a loving memorial service scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at New Life Baptist Church, 8900 South Peebly Road, Newalla. Pastor Rick Ham will officiate. Military Honors will follow the memorial service. Cremation has been effected Charles was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee, to Boyce Bolden Lindley and Elsie Louise Lindley. He had one sibling, his sister, Jewell. He loved her dearly and they remained very close until her death. Charles loved his country and spent 42 years of service in the Air Force. 20 years was spent actively serving, and he retired as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the military, he worked for Tinker Air Force Base for 22 years. After 42 total years of service, he retired from Tinker. Even after retirement, he continued to serve his country by volunteering his time to serve fellow Veterans through the Retiree’s Association at Tinker Air Force Base. He was a true patriot. Charles was a hard-working man, a phenomenal bowler, a devoted husband, a loving father, and the most amazing papa. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister, Jewell, a son, David, and a daughter, Sherry. He is survived by his wife, Della, his son, Gary and his wife, Betty, daughter Stacy, daughter, Shelly and her husband, Jason, 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. It seems unfair to summarize a man’s life in one page, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. The family has been assisted by Asa Smith Funeral Service of Harrah.
