Davonna Gay McDonnell

September 6, 1952 — March 18, 2025

Harrah, OK

Davonna Gay McDonnell 72, of Harrah, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at her home. Davonna was born on September 6, 1952, in Mena, Arkansas, Davonna and her identical twin sister, Daborah Kay Ward (Williams), made history as the first twins born in that hospital. They were welcomed into the world by their parents, Theda Dell Ward and Earl Ward Sr., and later joined by their younger brother, Earl Ward Jr. From an early age, Davonna’s life was filled with music, faith, and an undeniable bond with her twin. Together, the sisters played the accordion on the radio and filled their home with the joyful sounds of hymns, a gift Davonna carried throughout her life as she played the piano by ear in worship and praise.

Davonna’s life was a testament to love and devotion. She was first married to David Joel Langley (deceased), with whom she had a daughter, Tanya Dell Langley. She later found her greatest love in David Lawrence McDonnell, and together they built a life of unwavering partnership and deep affection. Married on February 6, 1981, Davonna and David spent 44 beautiful years by each other’s side, raising their daughter, Heather Dellvonn McDonnell (Mosher), and creating a home filled with warmth, faith, and boundless care.

Davonna was a proud and loving grandmother to Sabra Groom, Cody Conkling, Johnny Conkling, Hanna Willard, and Elijah Willard, and a cherished great-grandmother to Emery, Shyla, Gracyn, Harlyn, and baby boy Conkling on the way. She found her greatest joy in nurturing and caring for her family, ensuring that no child ever went unfed—often lovingly chasing toddlers around with a spoon in hand, determined that they would eat.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted servant of Jesus Christ, always active in her church and passionate about sharing the love of the Lord with those around her. Her deepest prayer was that her family would know and follow Jesus, a legacy of faith that will live on for generations.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find peace knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved twin, Deb, who passed on May 5, 2023. The thought of them together again in Heaven brings comfort to all who knew and loved them.

Davonna’s kindness, selflessness, and unwavering love will forever be imprinted on the hearts of those she leaves behind. While we grieve her passing, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived, knowing that she now rests in the arms of her Savior.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” – Matthew 25:23
