Deloris Del Thompson, 96, formerly of Harrah, died December 30, 2022, in Sherman, Texas. She was born September 5, 1926, in Newalla, to Gurnee and Gladys (Collier) Thompson. She was reared and educated in Harrah, living on 23rd street about where Sonic is now. Deloris graduated from Harrah High School in 1945, two days later, Deloris went to work at Tinker Air Force Base. She served 29 years as a Senior Inventory Specialist, retiring in 1974. During her work for Tinker she gained much knowledge and more friends as she spent three years in England at another US AFB.
Deloris never met a stranger and loved to travel and see the world. She enjoyed pulling her travel trailer all across the US and Canada, taking her parents, friends and family along for the ride. She traveled extensively all over the world, sometimes going back to revisit her favorite places two or three times. Deloris continued traveling well into her 90's.
Deloris was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Harrah and later in Texas. She was a devoted supporter of the Church's television ministry "In Search Of The Lord's Way". She was member of the National Audubon Society, and many of her travels were spent in search of beautiful birds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Alvin Thompson, sister Lois (Thompson) Banker, and niece Patti Thompson.
Survivors include her brother G.C. and wife Lola Thompson of Carlsbad, New Mexico; a longtime friend David Danford of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the "In Search of the Lord's Way" Television Ministry of the Church of Christ, 1321 E 9th St, Edmond, OK, 73034 .
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Memory Lane Cemetery. The family will greet friends 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
