Dennis Eugene Gilstrap, Sr.

Dennis Eugene Gilstrap, Sr., 72, of Newalla, OK left this life at his home in Newalla on September 24, 2019. He was born on August 21, 1947 in Wichita, KS to Boyatt Mustoe Gilstrap and Florence Jeanette (Martin) Gilstrap. Dennis was a mechanic for Gulfstream at Wiley Post Airport and also worked as a meat cutter for IGA stores. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army 7th Cavalry. Dennis enjoyed fishing and hunting with his grandchildren and also liked to garden, especially with roses. He also enjoyed going to estate sales and working on small engines. He was preceded in death by his parents 5 siblings. Survivors include his wife Joan Gilstrap; four children, Dennis Gilstrap and wife Pam of Lindsay, OK, Phillip Gilstrap of New Orleans, LA, Blanche Irwin and husband Shea of McLoud and John Gilstrap and wife Lacy of McLoud; two brothers, Jimmy Gilstrap and Mike Gilstrap, of Decatur, IL; three sisters, Gloria Lyons of Kansas City, KS, Nancy Allen of Wichita, KS and Vickie Hicks of Buckeye, AZ; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2019 in the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel with interment in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery under direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah.
