DOROTHY CHILDERS Dorothy Mae "Bonnie" Childers, 87, of Harrah, OK, was born on December 25, 1934, in Quapaw, OK. She was the daughter of Jess and Osa (Davis) Ussery. She went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 2, 2022. Dorothy married James Charles Childers, Sr. on February 10, 1951, in Oklahoma City. She attended Rose State College, majoring in accounting, and was initiated into Phi Theta Kappa, National Honor Fraternity of the Community and Junior Colleges, on March 12, 1984. She worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 18 years, retiring January 31, 2000, as a GS 11 Item Manager for all aircraft at TAFB. She was a Harrah 4-H leader for 11 years and volunteered wherever needed at Harrah First Baptist Church where she had been a member since 1975. She enjoyed collecting antiques, painting, and reading. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 57 years, Jim. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Sondra Childers, Michael and LeAnn Childers; four grandchildren, Dillon and his wife Sarah, Christa, Laurie and Michael Childers; one great-grandchild Julia Childers; two sisters Jessie Willett and Lorene Kidwell; and one brother and sister-in-law Leroy and Rose Ussery. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022, at First Baptist Church, Harrah, officiated by Dr. Doug Jones and Rev. Cody Moser. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, under direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service. Visitation at the funeral home will be 1:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lottie Moon Ministries, Harrah FBC, 2185 Church Street, Harrah, OK 73045.
