Dorothy Norma Edwards, 85, Marianna, Florida, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Marianna Health and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2024, at the Grant Street Church of Christ in Liberal, Kansas, with Dalton Key officiating. Burial will follow at the Forgan Cemetery, Forgan, Oklahoma, under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah, Oklahoma.
Dorothy “Doe” Edwards was born January 13, 1939, in Forgan, Oklahoma to Clarence Alfred Rufus and Norma Kate (Taylor) Sallee. She was baptized into Christ at the age of 12 and was a lifelong bible student. She graduated from Liberal High School and married Audy Dean Edwards on March 3, 1956, in Raton, New Mexico. She was always a homemaker. In 1975, she began working part-time as a teacher’s aide at McDermott Elementary School. She was later employed as a secretary at the Western Avenue Church of Christ, then a secretary at Bruce Financial Services, and finally as a caregiver supervisor at the Liberal Senior Center before retiring. Throughout her life, she always loved teaching and attending bible classes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Audy Edwards; her son Michael Edwards: her daughter-in-law, Lenora Edwards; her grandson, Aaron Anderson; her sister Lois Pfeifer; her sister Faye Curry, her brother Charles Sallee; her brother Kenneth Sallee; her brother Harold Sallee; and her brother Robert Sallee.
Dorothy is survived by her brother Clarence “Ted” Sallee; sister Mary Pittser; daughter, Opal Villines and husband, Larry; two sons, Terry Edwards and wife, Judy; and Joel Edwards and wife, Diana; fourteen grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Joshua, Katrina, Jeremy, Colby, Austin, Ben, Carrie, Timothy, Katy, Jeffrey, Tabitha and Rebekah; thirteen great grandchildren and many friends.
