DOUGLAS LEE PRUITT
Douglas Lee Pruitt, 87, of Harrah passed from this life to his rewards in Heaven and a joyful reunion with a host of family and friends on November 10, 2022, at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born May 24, 1935, in Wetumka, OK to Claude E. and Julia Breedlove Pruitt.
He was raised in Wetumka, then moved to South Oklahoma City before moving to Harrah. In 1953, he met his future wife Sylvia and it was love at first sight. Douglas was retired as a supervisor for OG&E. He loved to play golf, go hunting and fishing with family. Roger also got a kick out of scaring Doug.
He raised horses, hogs and rabbits and was an expert on all three and many other topics. He was also a superb domino player. Douglas was a talented musician and a gifted guitar player and formed his own band, the Over the Hill Gang and they enjoyed playing for Harrah Day celebrations and special events in Wetumka.
Doug also enjoyed square dancing and was an organizer and active member of the Happy Tracks Square Dance Club.
He was preceded in death by his sweet daughter Kathy Knox and 8 siblings.
Survivors to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly 70 years, Sylvia; Sons Danny and wife Debra of Warsaw, Mo., Bruce and wife Nancy of Harrah; Son-in-law Roger Knox of Harrah; Grandchildren Lorri Knox and husband John Cao, Kristy and husband Jared McCord, Brian Pruitt, Cole and wife Lindsey Pruitt, Jacob and wife Sarah Pruitt, Joshua Pruitt and husband Jason Jones; Great-Grandchildren Kaitlyn Pruitt, Michaela Pruitt, Samuel Pruitt, Bradley Pruitt, Skylar McCord, Zack McCord, Alyssa Mackinzie, Trinity and husband Gage Inman, Leia Black, Nathan Black, Mackinzie Pruitt, Carter and Carson Pruitt; and great-great grandchildren, Finlee and Jackson Suter.
The family will receive friends at the Asa Smith Funeral Service from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2022. Service of remembrance will be held Monday, November 14 at 10 a.m. at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel followed by interment at 2:30 p.m. at Wetumka Cemetery. Dr. Dan Campbell, Pastor of Faith Baptist Church, Harrah, will officiate.
