Eva Elizabeth Macarty, 100, Shawnee, formerly of Harrah, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024, at the McLoud Nursing Home. Eva was born January 6, 1924, in Domby, Oklahoma, to Robert W. and Rhoda (Fain) Schulze. She left the panhandle of Oklahoma with her family, at 10 years old, to live in Choctaw. She married Walter Macarty on May 21, 1941, the couple moved to Harrah to make their home. Eva worked for over 25 years in the Harrah Public School system as the assistant cafeteria manager. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Harrah. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, sang in the church choir and served on the funeral dinner committee. Eva was saved and baptized in the First Baptist Church of Harrah at the age of 25. She enjoyed crocheting, making ceramics and was avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, son John Walker Macarty, a brother, and three sisters.
Survivors include her daughter Ann and husband James R. “JR” McDonald of Shawnee; grandchildren Alan Hall of Harrah, David Macarty of Midwest City; great-grandchildren Kristen Durham of Edmond, Alyssa Wedel of Sentinal, three great-great-grandchildren; nephews David Schulze of Cookson, Wayne Houseman of Derby, Kansas; and a niece Delores Walker of Arkansas City, Kansas
The casket will be open 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Harrah. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery in North Oklahoma City.
