Evelyn E Fugate

Evelyn Eudora Fugate, 84, of Harrah, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 30, 2024.

Evelyn was born July 18, 1939, in Harrah, to Mack and Lilly (Beal) Higdon. She was reared and educated in Harrah, graduating in 1956, where she was very active in the high school band. She later got her nursing certificate in Arkansas. Evelyn married Carroll D “Salty” Fugate on December 17, 1956, in Arkansas. The couple made their home in Arkansas briefly before returning to Harrah. Evelyn worked as a nurse for over 30 years in several different departments of the Midwest City Hospital. Evelyn retired in 2009 and enjoyed spending time with family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed attending Cowboy Church of McLoud with her son and spent many evenings attending local dances.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband “Salty” in 2009, and siblings Poojack Higdon, Mary Ellen Fortelney and Carolyn Bomboy.

Survivors include her son Rick Fugate of Midwest City; daughters Donita and husband Mike Tiller of Jones, Brenda and husband Eugene Patterson of Harrah, Kelly Saxon of Jones; two brothers Joe Manek of Harrah, Larry Higdon of Choctaw; grandchildren Mike and wife Andrea Fugate, Mark Tiller, Kristen and husband Jared Brown, Brian and wife Anna Patterson, Glenda and husband Quincy Lawson, Heather Griffin, David and wife Lesley Saxon; great-grandchildren Cole, Madison, Skylar, Cadence, Quinton, Roman, Athena, Ayden, Benjamin, and Daniel; and one great-great-grandson Zion.

Friends may pay their respects 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2024, at Asa Smith Funeral Service of Harrah. Burial will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery of Harrah.
