Fred Deerwester

Frederick C. Deerwester, 66, of Harrah, left this life on February 5, 2018 in Oklahoma City. He was born to Richard Alfred and Clara Augusta Martha Jeglia Deerwester on November 20, 1951. in Springfield, IL. He moved to Harrah 33 years ago from Oklahoma City. Fred was retired from the Air Force for 20+ years and worked for Harrah Schools as a custodian and bus driver for 25+ years. Fred was a member of Harrah United Methodist Church. He enjoyed taking pictures of sporting events, coaching softball, basketball and soccer teams and he loved to go fishing. Some of his favorites included the St. Louis Cardinals, OSU football and basketball and especially enjoyed and loved his children and grandchild. Fred was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Laura of the home; two daughters, Jessica Deerwester of Yukon and Clara and Sean Benbrook of Pensecola, FL.; a grandson, Colton Benbrook of Pensecola FL. and other extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at Harrah United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Cato officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Asa Smith Funeral Service in Harrah. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 8. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fred Deerwester's name to Harrah United Methodist Church, Central Oklahoma Humane Society, Oklahoma Heart Association or Harrah Soccer Club. Services are under direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah, and tributes may be posted on the web-site. Family wants to thank the Harrah Fire Department, AllianceHealth Midwest EMS, Oklahoma Heart South staff, and Dr. Bhaktaram and staff for all they had tried and for going above and beyond the call of duty.
