She was born to Harry and Cecil Mae Austin on October 31, 1938, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was a graduate of Northeast High School, Oklahoma City. After high school she completed her courses and training in Oklahoma City as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital from the Sisters of Mercy in 1958. She was primarily a collector of books and loved to read, but also collected many other things. Gayle enjoyed planning family vacations and enjoyed several trips to Europe including England, Amsterdam and the Holy Land. She loved her family tremendously. She was always excited to be surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After her husbands passing 18 months ago she was blessed to spend her remaining time at home with the care of Lori and Lauren. Which they attribute their ability to care for her through the care and support of Centennial Hospice. She loved her dog, Cleo, who was her loyal and faithful companion. Gayle also took many trips with her dear niece Lisa Spencer around the state of Oklahoma, family functions, and transporting rescue dogs to new homes. The family would like to thank Centennial Hospice, especially Shaunna, Kalyn and Kay.
