GEORGE EARL DAVIS
George Earl Davis, a dedicated Land Surveyor and proud family man, was born on December 28, 1934, on the family farm near Luther, OK, and passed away on February 10, 2025, in his home of Harrah, OK, at the age of 90. He was the son of Alvin Davis and Mildred Kate Robinson Davis.
George grew up in Luther, OK, where he learned the value of hard work while helping on the family farm. He graduated from Luther High School in 1952 and soon after served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1956. During his service, he was honored with the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal SO 243 before being honorably discharged. George was employed with E. D. HILL Surveyors for 30+ years and owned his own company, GED Surveying, for 30 more years. George was a man of many talents. He approached every job with a smile and took great joy in sharing them with his family, friends, and neighbors – or anyone in need of help whether with surveying or any other task.
George was a hardworking, humble country man whose work ethic was second to none. He instilled in his children and grandchildren the importance of perseverance, integrity, and dedication. He had a deep love for working outdoors and enjoyed fishing, good barbecue ribs, classic country music, OU football, and watching rodeos on The Cowboy Channel. On September 19, 1958, George married Dorothy Jean Kincaid in Bartlesville, OK. Together, they began a life together in Claremore, OK, where George worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. While in Claremore, they started a family, having two children before moving to Oklahoma City, where George’s career in surveying began with E.D. Hill. In 1966 the family put down roots in Jacktown, OK, where they welcomed their third child. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Mildred Davis; his daughter, Tammy Jenise Davis-Lewis; his son, Monte Davis; and his first love and mother of his children, Jean Davis. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Carolyn Davis, and his devoted son, Shawn Davis of Meeker, OK. Also surviving are his brother, Jerry Davis and his wife, Darlene, of Boulder City, NV his stepson James Allen and wife April of Fredericksburg, VA; his grandchildren, Robert Davis and his wife, Monique of Jacktown, OK Ky Davis of Stillwater, OK; Kacy Swires and wife Rachel of Blanchard, OK; Desiree Davis, of Oklahoma City, OK; Stefan Benedix and his wife, Amanda of Piedmont, OK and Shelby Honeycutt and her husband Adam of McLoud, OK as well as 5 nephews and 14 great grandchildren. George’s legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the values he upheld, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
