Gerald (Jerry) Martin Jorski, 72, of Midwest City, formerly of Harrah, passed away peacefully on November 8th at Sienna Extended Care and Rehab in Midwest City after an extended illness.
Jerry was born to Carl and Rosalie Jorski on April 21st, 1951, in Oklahoma City. The oldest of 6 children, Jerry spent most of young life in Colorado until his move back to Oklahoma in the late spring of 1968. Upon his graduation from Del City High School in 1969, he enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserves and was Honorably Discharged after 6 years of service. Jerry also furthered his education and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture in the area of Forestry Management from Oklahoma State University.
Jerry began his career by managing all the day to day activities at Jorski Grain Market in Harrah, Oklahoma, where he was co-owner with his parents. After 30 years at Jorski Grain Market, Jerry began a new career with the State of Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry as an Agriculture Field Inspector for 10 years before retiring.
Jerry met his future wife, Betsy Lu Cunningham, at Harrah Days. They were married on October 16, 1981, in Harrah, and were married for 41 years. They lived their married lives together in Harrah, Enid, and finally in Midwest City. Jerry and Betsy enjoyed the company of numerous friends throughout their lives.
Jerry’s favorite hobbies were motorcycles, his corvette, and hiking in the mountains of Colorado.
He is preceded in death by his father, Carl Jorski, of Harrah, and his wife, Betsy Lu Jorski, of Midwest City.
Jerry is survived by his mother, Rosalie Cook of Harrah; sister Janie Green (Mike) of Broken Arrow; sister Cathy Webster (Bob) of Pryor; brother Andrew Jorski (Carla) of Choctaw; brother Mike Jorski (Susan) of Harrah; brother Matt Jorski (Susan) of Choctaw; and numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, and great grand nieces.
