GLEN PLESS McBRIDE

Glen Pless McBride, 85, of Newalla, died Saturday, October 29, 2022, at the Harrah Nursing Center, surrounded by his family. Glen was born July 12, 1937, in Geary, OK to Barney B. and Verna Faye (Wright) McBride.

Glen was raised and educated in Fort Cobb, OK, graduating in 1957.He worked in the cotton fields alongside his family at age 4. He later began to drive the school bus as a high school sophomore before graduating.

He was drafted into the United States Army in 1960, serving in the HQ CO 17th TRANS BN 7th INF DIV APO 7. Upon completion of his tour, he remained in the Army Reserves until 1966. Glen married Jimmie Bruce on October 4, 1963, at the Crestline Baptist Church of Oklahoma City. The couple lived in Oklahoma City where they were very active in the Assembly of God Church. The family moved to Newalla in 1974, where they raised their four children. Glen owned and operated two Texaco Stations in South Oklahoma City. He later began a long career at the General Motors Plant in Oklahoma City.

At his home in Newalla, Glen grew acres of vegetables and fruits for family and neighbors. He was born with the spirit to lend a hand to anyone anytime, many times helping travelers that needed gas, folks that needed a place to stay, or those that needed a safe place to find their way. Glen served as a Deacon at both the McLoud and Harrah First Assembly of God Churches.

Described as a "Good Man" by all that knew him, Glen also had a joking and onery side about him. He loved to laugh with his wife and children, teaching that hard work must be accompanied by love and laughter.
