Harry James Blanchard

Harry James Blanchard, 68 of Choctaw, died Friday, December 16, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. Harry was born April 16, 1954, in Oklahoma City, to Henry and Helen (Gibson) Blanchard. He was raised and educated in Northern Oklahoma City graduating from Bethel High School and later attended Oklahoma Baptist University of Shawnee on a sports scholarship. Harry married Connie Belcher on May 09, 1992, in Choctaw. The couple owned and operated Choctaw Ground Water Pump and Supply since 1994. Harry was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing alongside his son and later grandson. He was very generous with time and money and rarely told his children “No.” He was a quiet man, observant and wise but was also a fierce protector of his family. Harry was immensely proud of his Native American ancestry and served as an Elder in the Absentee Shawnee Tribe.

Those left to celebrate his life and mourn his passing include his wife Connie of the home; sons Matthew and wife Jessica Blanchard of Jones, Bradley Smith of Oklahoma City; daughters Jamie and husband Jim Bierd of Shawnee, Amber Blanchard of Colorado and Summer Tucker of North Carolina; many siblings including but limited to Terrance Blanchard, Russell Blanchard, Audrey Dodds all of Newalla, Henryetta Ellis of Tecumseh, Joe Blanchard and Alex Blanchard of Oklahoma; many grandchildren including, but not limited to Baley Bierd, Cole Motes, Daniel Smith, Gabriel Smith, Khale Cunningham and Kason Blanchard.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Jill Blanchard and Helen Ramirez.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2022, at the Rossville Cemetery north of Meeker. The casket will be closed at all times.
