Long time former Harrah resident, Henderson G. Overturf, 80, left this life to be with his Lord and loved ones on July 16, 2018 in Las Vegas, NV. He was born on March 15, 1938 in Grannis, AR. He was the 7th of 10 children born to Calvin and Lucille (Burrows) Overturf. They moved their large family in 1945 originally to the Alex, Oklahoma area, but ended up settling in Del City, Oklahoma shortly thereafter. Before graduating from Del City High School he enjoyed playing on the baseball team. Henderson joined the United States Army in September of 1956 and served almost 3 years. Afterwards he received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and worked at Tinker Air Force Base as a Civil Engineer until he retired. He married the love of his life, Sue McWaters, and they had two sons, Darrell and David. Henderson enjoyed cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners. He was a devout and faithful servant to the Lord at the McLoud church of Christ in McLoud, Oklahoma for many years. He had a love for reading the Bible and taking care of the lawns for several of the widowed in the congregation. He was also part of a group that began several small congregations in Western Oklahoma. He attended the Barnes school of preaching, as well as in Elk City and McLoud. Preceded in death by his wife, parents, son, David, brothers, David Overturf, Amos Overturf, and Harford Overturf, and sisters, Phyllis Seats, Dorothy Rains, and Martha Barnes. Henderson leaves behind his son, Darrell and wife, Michelle, grandchildren Ava Overturf, Jace Overturf and Dax Overturf, brothers Sylvester Overturf, Vernon Overturf and wife Helen, George Overturf and wife Barbara, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Funeral Services will be held at Asa Smith Funeral Service in Harrah, Oklahoma on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where military honors will be rendered. Condolences may be left for the family at www.asasmith.net
