Ila Lynn Basham

Ila Lynn Fallin Basham, 78, of Harrah passed from this life to Heaven to meet her Savior, claim her rewards and reunite with a host of friends and loved ones on July 7, 2020, at her daughter’s home in Harrah. She was born to Ulman and Opal Fallin on December 30, 1941 in Newalla, Oklahoma. Ila attended McLoud High School and earned her Licensed of Practical Nurse at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee. She was employed with Midwest City Regional Hospital for over 30 years before retiring. Ila was a member of the Newalla Church of Christ. She spent many hours of her day studying the Bible and listening to preachers on the radio and television. Ila loved many things, including writing poetry and letters, sending cards, traveling, and camping. She loved taking scenic drives, especially through the mountains of Arkansas. Her kids and grandkids spent a lot of time traveling with her. She would have a day or two off work, and on the road she went. The grandkids called these “penny road trips” and have many memories and stories. She also loved searching and collecting antiques and enjoyed many kinds of music. She developed a passion for basketball in her later years and was a huge fan of the OKC Thunder and OU Sooners. Ila loved her family and neighbors. She was very compassionate about caring for others. She cared for many family members during her lifetime and also many in her surrounding community. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Howard; a daughter Rhonda Basham; and siblings Naomi Baldwin, Steven Milton Fallin, Ozel Canady, Allin Lee Fallin, Onida Woodbury, and Clebern Fallin. Survivors include three daughters, Donna Clovene Elliott of Sulphur, Tobi and husband Harold Moyer of Harrah, and Joy and husband Kenneth Shelly of Harrah; grandchildren Keyahnna Trepanier, Elisa Elliott, Wesley Elliott, Joshua Moyer and wife Naomi, Whitney Mitchell and husband Kyle, Austin Moyer and wife Sarah, Heather Rodriguez, Aubrianna Shelly, and Owen Shelly; and 20 great-grandchildren (Anastasia, Scarlett, Aubri, Coltin, Grayson, Tucker, Kenadi, Kaleb, Baker, Ilaizabeth, Shyler, Harrison, Hunter, Hayden, Mackenzie, Willa, Olivia, GracieAnne, Logan and Evan). Funeral services will be held Friday, July 10 at 10 a.m. in the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel under direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah followed by interment in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery. Grandson Joshua Moyer will be officiating. Tributes and condolences may be posted on the funeral home web-site www.asasmith.net
