Jessie C. Holcombe Sr.

Jessie Colbert Holcombe, 93, of Choctaw, OK went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, November 12, 2018 in Choctaw. He was born July 8, 1925 to Rupert and Frances (Chapman) Holcombe in Bard, NM. He served in the U. S. Army from 1943-46. Jessie was an aircraft electrician at Tinker Air Force Base, retiring in 1980. Jessie loved rebuilding engines and enjoyed traveling, fishing and camping with his family. He was enthusiastic in his support of Oklahoma Sooner football, especially when they played Texas and Oklahoma State. He also enjoyed gospel music and reading his Bible. He was preceded in death by his parents Rupert and Frances Holcombe; his wife of 71 years Lola May Holcombe; three sisters, Lena Mae Holcombe, Mary Ruth Weigert and Ilene Crane; two sons, Jessie Jr. and Leslie; a daughter Sandra Holcombe; three granddaughters, Leetavah McNeely, Karen Holcombe and Dawn Holcombe; one great-grandson, Brandon Holcombe and one great-great granddaughter Faith Cross. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Duane Jernigan of Choctaw; daughter-in-law, Donna Holcombe of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Violet Watson of Shawnee and Bea Calvert of Tribbey; 19 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 26 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 16 at 2 p.m. in the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel under direction of Asa Smith Funeral Home in Harrah followed by interment at Dale Cemetery.
