JOHN ELMER GILBERT
John Elmer Gilbert was born October 12, 1943 to Frank and Pauline (Muchinine) Gilbert. He passed from this life on October 30, 2022 after a five-year battle with Renal Corinoma. He was raised in McLoud and attended school there. He was a member of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma.
In 1961, he joined the U. S.. Army and spent 20 years proudly serving his country. In 1982, he married Bernedette Gaumer and they spent 40 years together. Following his retirement, he worked for TG&Y as an Automotive Manager in Anadarko, Tecumseh and Midwest City.
He also worked for Firestone before going to work at Tinker Air Force Base. In 1986, he started John's Automotive Repair and Muffler Shop at his home, moving to McLoud in 2000, then to Shawnee in 2002. He retired again in 2012.
John's passion was riding motor cycles of all kinds; but Harley's were his favorite.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Pauline; his brother Frank Paul (Franky), daughter Guinda Sue and son, John Elmer Jr.
He leaves behind his wife Bernedette; daughters Tonya Louise Speerli and Dominique LeVoy and step daughter Sarah Caruth (Christopher); grandchildren and great grandchildren.
