John Michael Jasper

December 18, 1942 — January 19, 2023

John Michael Jasper, 80, of Newalla, passed from this life to his eternal reward on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Norman Regional Hospital.

“Mike” was born December 18, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri, to John P and Alma ( Stein) Jasper. He was reared and educated in the Kansas City area later moving to Paola, Kansas. Mike served in the United States Navy, first on a ship and later as a Navy Recruiter for many years. After retirement, Mike helped local organizers obtain a military presence at local parades, sporting events and other venues in the Oklahoma City and surrounding areas. He also, enjoyed traveling to many parts of the country to meet up with old Navy buddies. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish. Truly enjoyed working and restoring his antique tractors.

Survivors include his wife Terry Frye-Jasper of the home; children John Rick Jasper of California, John D. “JD” Jasper of Pennsylvania, Kathleen Jasper of Israel, William Frye and Tyson Frye of Newalla; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Amanda Dawn Jasper.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday February 6, 2023, at the Asa Smith Funeral Service Chapel in Harrah. Burial will be in the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas, on the following Thursday at 1:30 pm.
