John William Cochran, 78, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away on July 20, 2023, in Oklahoma City, Ok. He was born March 12, 1945, in Fort Gordon, GA to John and Marjorie (Thompson) Cochran.
John made a career in the aerospace industry. He worked for Boeing as a systems analyst for 23 years and was also in the Air Force. While in the Air Force, John received the Airman’s Medal for his heroism for pulling four men from a burning aircraft on March 16, 1970, while serving in the Vietnam War. John retired as a Master Sergeant from the United State Air Force in 1985. After retiring from the Air Force, he and his wife, Zoan, made their home in Harrah. John loved to go shooting, fishing, and traveling. John was also very active in the Boy Scouts. He was Scout Master at Varsity Scouts Troup 457, Assistant Scout Master for Troup 457 and was with Order of the Arrow Mid-America Council BSA.
John is preceded in death by his wife Zoan Winegeart; parents John E Cochran II and Marjorie Cochran; and brother John E Cochran III.
Survivors include two sons: John W Cochran Jr and wife Shanne, David Paul Cochran and wife Tatia; eight grandchildren: Jeremy Cochran, Kyra Cochran, Nicolas Cochran, Alyssa Madsen and husband Michael, Briona Cochran and fiancée Brad Lawson, Curran Cochran and wife Jordan Cochran, McKay Perrin and husband Duncan Perrin, Tanner Hall and wife Kaitlynn Hall, great-grandchildren Adell and Abbigail Madsen, Rory, Rylan and Sawyer Hall; and a sister Deborah Cochran.
A Celebration of life will be held at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service in Harrah, OK. Online condolences and memories may be shared by visiting www.asasmith.net.
