Joseph David Patterson, 51, of McLoud, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023, at his home surrounded by his daughter, family, and close friends by his side. Joe was born October 18, 1971, in Los Angeles, California, to David Aaron Patterson and Darlene Francis Smiley. He was raised by his grandmother Helen Patterson in Harrah and spent some time in foster care, Graduating from Harrah High School in 1989. He was a single loving devoted father raising his daughter Morgan and was most happy to become a papa to Liam. Joe worked for the City of Midwest City for over 17 years, retiring as the Supervisor of the Streets and Parks Department on August 5, 2023. Joe and his crew especially enjoyed working hard to open Midwest city holiday lights spectacular show as well as taking the most pride keeping the parks in Pristine condition year around. To those that worked closely with him Joe was a devoted boss and coworker who was great to work with and led by example. Joe was the life of the party, a jokester, loaded with charisma and a touch of sarcasm. Joe was known to be a social light, making friends everywhere he went and was never afraid to speak his mind. He loved to make sure that each person felt welcome and had plenty to eat. “If you left Joe’s house hungry it was your own fault.” Joe worked hard for the things he had and was proud of the efforts it took to achieve the things he had. He had a very mechanically inclined mind and could figure and fix almost anything.
He was preceded in death by his father David Patterson, foster father Roy Youngblood and grandmother Helen Patterson.
Survivors include his daughter Morgan Patterson and fiancée Jonathan Hayes, grandson Liam Joseph Campos; mother Darlene Smiley of California; cousins Debra Daugomah of Shawnee, Rhonda McMillin-Hunt of Edmond, Sara Wilson of Harrah, Jessica Salazar of Shawnee, David Patterson of Long Beach, California, Tom Dishion of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Bryan Wilson of McLoud.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Kickapoo Friends Center of McLoud. Burial will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery.
