Juanita E Shaffer

Juanita Eileen Shaffer, 92, of Harrah, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the Accel at Crystal Park Nursing Home in Oklahoma City.

Juanita was born June 28, 1931, in Fairview, to Basil Lee Thomas and Elsie May (Griffith) Thomas. She was reared and educated in Fairview, graduating high school in 1949. She later attended Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas. While attending school she met and later married Anthony Pizzitola, the couple was later divorced. Juanita returned to the Oklahoma City area to work as a dietician for a large nursing home group in the Eastern Oklahoma County area. Juanita retired after 51 years of service. She married Johnny Shaffer in 1974, the couple moved to the Choctaw area and Johnny preceded her in death in 1994. She later moved to Harrah to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the St Teresa of Avila Catholic Church of Harrah.

Survivors include her children Joseph and wife Laurie Pizzitola, Becky and husband Tony Saleeby all of Harrah. Grandchildren include Dustin, Jeff, and Andrew, great-grandchildren Ayden, Noah, Riley, Tynlee, Grayson, Emmaleigh, Dustin, Jr., Paislee, Chase, Gage and Brylen.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2024, at St. Teresa Catholic Cemetery in Harrah.
