Judith Ann Watkins

After an arduous struggle with COPD, Judith A Watkins (Newsom), age 75, of Harrah, Oklahoma, let her spirit soar on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday (March 5, 2022) at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel of Harrah. Burial will follow in Arlington Memory Gardens of Midwest City. The casket will be open for friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Judy was preceded in death by parents, Harold Newsom and Loweta Newsom; brothers, Harold Lynn Newsom, David Newsom, Mark Newsom, and Bryce Newsom, and her son, Paul Terry. Being the only sister of 4 brothers, she had a strength and a stubbornness that could not be shaken. Judy showed all of us how to work and care for ourselves with independence and tenacity. She provided her family and friends with many life lessons and memories, least of which, the ferocity of her love for her husband, Rickey Watkins, and her children; Paul Terry (deceased 2004), Richard Terry, Steve Terry and wife Tracey, Stacie Payne, Andra Burgess and husband Phil, Todd Watkins and wife Miranda, and Stephanie King. Judy enjoyed the blessings of her grandchildren; Casey Terry, Joshua Burgess, Sebastian Watkins, Nicholas Watkins, Jacob King and wife Emma, Emily Gravitt and husband Aedrynn, Nathan King, and Olivia King. She had the bonus blessing of 6 great-grandchildren. Judy was their rock, their support, their confidant, and their friend. All who knew her, knew the depth of her love. When Judy reached a point in her life that she could take time for herself, she enjoyed trying new things. She went back to school, and she learned karate. Judy joined CASA and became an advocate for children in the legal system of Oklahoma County. These are just a few of the things that Judy found to fulfill herself and to show her family that no matter our age, we should always better ourselves and strive to make a difference in the lives of others. The imprint of Judy’s life will forever be a beacon of love, courage, and strength to those she left behind. Arrangements are under the care of Asa Smith Funeral Services of Harrah.
