Judith (Judi) Marie Stewart, 82, passed away peacefully in her home in Norman, Oklahoma on December 8th, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born in Grand Junction, Colorado on October 28th, 1940. She was adopted by Lloyd and Francis Farrell as an infant and was raised in Des Moines, Iowa. Judi was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Stewart.
She leaves behind two children, Tonya (Charles) Berkebile, Courtney (John) Chojnacki, one step-daughter, Kim Stewart, five grand-children, two great grand-children, and the Hostess snack cake industry, for which she was an unofficial lifetime spokeswoman until her death. She left behind a hell of a lot of stuff to her daughters who have no idea what to do with it; including the ashes of all her pets.
Affectionately known as Nana by her family and many friends, she had the best sense of humor, was a professional television watcher by trade, a cantankerous bingo player and avid soap opera watcher. She also enjoyed collecting antiques off of eBay and proudly displayed her character telephone collection, much to the dismay of her children and husband Kenneth.
Judi loved her family, animals, salt, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter LIGHT, Diet Pepsi, junk food, fast food restaurants, and large cheese pizzas with no sauce and triple extra extra extra cheese. She was known as being very kind, thoughtful and eclectic. Her signature everyday look was all hers and took fashion cues from no one: a kitty T-shirt designed by the fashion houses of the internet and mail catalogs, that showed up in the mailbox daily. She strived to make baggy clothes, lace less shoes, and flannel oversized shirts an international fashion statement.
Judi had strong beliefs in which she never waivered: she believed in spiritual advisors, psychic readings, that Grandma was always watching over you, and one can meet a man by laying around the house in bed (it just takes time). She also knew when the cook was going to screw up her rare hamburger with grilled onions order and would promptly send it back.
Judi was very very loved, will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by family, many friends, and her special furry friends. Family will be holding a private service in the coming months. If you are interested in purchasing any character telephones which include Mickey Mouse, Garfield, Kermit the Frog (and 31 others) please reach out to the family. :)
