Kathleen (Kathy) Ward Saxton, 78, of Edmond comfortably passed away at peace on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, in Edmond. She was retired GS-11, Department of Defense (Civil Service), Oklahoma City Air Logistics, Tinker AFB
The youngest daughter of four siblings born to Richard and Catherine Ward in Buffalo, NY, she grew up on Swift Creek in Colonial Heights, VA. She always had fond memories of swimming across the narrow channel to find adventures (and trouble) with her friends as a child.
In 1976 she met Andre, the love of her life, they were married on March 21, 1977, and moved to Oklahoma where they enjoyed riding horses and spending time on their boat together. Kathy’s smile had a brightness that could light up even the largest room. Her face glowed with a special blend of pride and joy when she talked about her beloved husband, children, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
She had an extraordinary gift for seeing the world through an artist’s eyes, revealing the hidden beauty in overlooked landscapes, stunning sunrises, and the faces of those around her. One of +her favorite pastimes was spending time by the water, where she found peace and tranquility, especially surrounded by the warmth and laughter of her cherished family. Kathy’s presence was impactful, leaving behind a trail of joy and inspiration for everyone she met, making her truly unforgettable.
Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, father and siblings Richard F. Ward Jr, Peggy A. Brown and Dennis J. Ward.
She is survived by children: Andre Jr. and Shannon Saxton, Texas; Chan Mentzer, North Carolina; Chris and Traci Mentzer, Edmond; Patrick and Shlea Saxton, Oklahoma City; Darrick and Vickie Saxton, Choctaw and Brandy and Randy Trotter, Midwest City; Grandchildren: Baylee and Clint Hall, Chase, Emma, Carli, Reese, Tyler, Breana, Jordan, Peyton and Caitlyn Parker, Presley, Ashley and Garrett; and great-grandchildren: Cooper, Oaklee, Ahsoka and Dakota
