Larry Eugene Deinlein, aged 82, passed away on September 28, 2024, in Choctaw, Oklahoma. Born on September 25, 1942, Larry spent the majority of his life in Texas before returning to his home state a few months before his passing. Larry is survived by his wife, Pamela Deinlein, with whom he shared a deep love and numerous adventures, including golfing, fishing, and extensive travel.
He leaves behind a loving family including his son Jeff Deinlein and wife Ann, daughter Debby Scott and husband Rob, stepson Earl Harrison and wife Mary, and sister Carolyn Sample and husband Dale. Larry was a proud grandfather to Cate, Garrett, Carman, Ashley, Bailey, and Jaydan, and also cherished his seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Deinlein and Helen Long.
An alumnus of Dacoma High School and Oklahoma State University, Larry earned a Bachelor of Science in Business in 1964. He began his career at the Department of Agriculture, later moving to the Veterans Administration in Austin, Texas, where he specialized in accounting. After dedicating 32 years to the VA, he retired in 1999. Beyond his professional life, Larry was a passionate outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing throughout his life. He discovered a love for golf later in life, which he pursued with zeal alongside his wife, Pam. Together, they traveled the U.S., playing golf in numerous states and fulfilling their shared dream of visiting all 50 states. Their adventures also took them on cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Europe, and Hawaii.
Memorial services for Larry will be held in both Oklahoma and Texas, with specific dates and times to be announced later.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice in remembrance of Larry.
