Linda Elizabeth Peeler

January 1, 1946 — June 27, 2022

Linda Renfro Peeler, age 76, of Harrah, OK, died Monday, June 27, 2022, after a number of years battling failing health. Linda Elizabeth Renfro was born on January 1, 1946, at the U.S. Naval base in Norfolk, Virginia to Carl Jackson and Dorothy Mae (Mosser) Renfro. After spending her early years in Clinton, Missouri, the family moved to Oklahoma where Linda graduated from US Grant High School, Oklahoma City, in 1964, the same year she married the love of her life, Claude Peeler. Linda and Claude attended college together, graduating with Associate degrees from Altus Junior College in 1966 and then receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from East Central State College, Ada, in 1969. They spent the rest of her life doing almost everything together, up until the very end. As a pastor’s wife, she moved a lot in those early days and could make any parsonage into a loving home. In addition to serving in many unsung roles in churches over the years (plus the singing ones!), she also worked first as an English and music teacher and then later in administration at Christian Heritage Academy. She was the right hand of the school’s headmaster and a pillar in that community for more than thirty years. She was a talented pianist and organist, serving as an accompanist in every church she ever entered starting at the tender age of six. She played for hundreds of events, school concerts and graduations, and then later the weddings of many of those students who had come to love her. Most important to Linda was her family. Her children and grandchildren filled her walls with photos and artwork and filled her heart to overflowing. She enjoyed close relationships with her parents, mother-in-law, siblings, nieces, nephews and many cousins. She was always happiest holding the baby (whoever that was at the time), and that worked out just fine since the baby was probably happiest holding her too. Linda’s kindness and warmth kept Hallmark in business, as she kept drawers full of cards to send to her many friends and loved ones, whose birthdays, anniversaries, and major (and minor) life events she tracked on her yearly calendar. Her pies, an out-of-this-world treat, made regular appearances for any and all occasions. Her generosity and loving spirit were a ministry to the hearts of all who met her. Linda is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Claude; her son and daughter-in-law Les and Benita Peeler of Harrah, OK; their children Breanna and her fiancé Kyle Lewallen, and Landen and his fiancé Emily Bollom; her daughter and son-in-law Sarah and Herb Merrill of Grand Rapids, MI; their children Preston and Emlynn; her son and daughter-in-law Lance and Amy Peeler of Wheaton, IL; their children Katherine, Maxson and Kindred; her sister Kathy Renfro; her brother and sister-in-law Jack and Sarah Renfro; many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and a host of cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl (Jack) and Dorothy Renfro, by her sister, Jeanette Renfro, and by her nephew Jeremy Taylor Todd. Funeral services will be held at Asa Smith Funeral Home in Harrah, OK, on Tuesday, July 5, at 10:00 AM. Graveside services will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery also in Harrah. The family will greet friends at Asa Smith Funeral Home on Monday, July 4, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Arrangements are under the care of Asa Smith Funeral Services of Harrah.
