Marguerite Christiann Ownbey, 95 of Newalla passed from the life to her reward in Heaven on April 15, 2019 in Midwest City, OK surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 13, 1924 to Edward Earl and Anna Mary Emily (Pruitt) Manley in Payson, OK at Grandma Pruitt’s house. There was a blizzard and the old country doctor had a hard time getting there. Marguerite married the love of her life, H. C. Ownbey on June 17, 1944. They were part of the greatest generation. H. C. served in the 1st Infantry and was injured behind German lines. Marguerite worked at Douglas Aircraft, the Oklahoma State Capitol, Tinker AFB and retired from Mid-Del Public Schools. She loved her family and they loved her. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, crocheting and gardening. She made the best pies. We will all miss her but we will see her again in Heaven. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Newalla and loved her church and her Sunday School class. She missed her friends as they preceded her in death. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; a brother Earl Joe Manley and two infant children, a son Howard Christian and a daughter Deborah. Survivors include two daughters Sharon Marguerite Stroope and husband Benny of Choctaw; Marilyn Diane Magee-Brown of Tecumseh; a sister Anita Faye (Manley) Dyer of Nipomo, CA; grandchildren Christie Lynn Rickey, Michael Paul Stroope, Landon James Magee and wife Amy of Choctaw, Justin Paul Magee and wife Kathy of Newalla; great grandchildren Preston Michael Stroope, Luke James Magee, Owen Patrick Magee of Choctaw, Katlyn Nicole Magee and friend Kirstin Alexander and Phoenix of Oklahoma City, a nephew Kenneth Warren Ownbey and wife Patti of Yuma, AZ and many nieces, nephews cousins and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Newalla with interment in Dale Cemetery under direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah. Condolences and tributes may be left on the funeral home web-site www.asasmith.net. Visistation is scheduled at Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
