In Loving Memory of Mrs. Maria Yáñez Bozarth
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our devoted mother, Mrs. Maria Yáñez Bozarth. Born on June 15, 1934, in Madrid, Spain, during the tumultuous times of the Spanish Civil War, Maria lived a life full of resilience and grace. She pursued higher education in Brighton, England, and Paris, France, where she earned her degrees.
Upon returning to Spain in 1958, her life took a wonderful turn as she married James L. Bozarth from Pattonsburg, MO, thanks in part to the opportunities presented by the Marshall Plan. Together, Maria and James built a loving family of five children: Maria Cristina, Sylvia, Karl, Katherine, and James.
Maria taught Spanish at St. Philip Neri Catholic school and was a tutor at Rose State College, instilling a love for her native language in her students.
Maria loved to read and had endless interests, particularly in movies, especially Hollywood classics and English period series. She had an impeccable sense of style, always enjoying the latest fashions. Additionally, she took great joy in knitting, creating handmade treasures for her children and grandchildren, and hosting family gatherings filled with food, family, and friends. Summers spent on the east coast and in southern Spain were particularly special to her. Christmas holidays, with presents and family filling her living room, were among her favorite times.
Maria's legacy extends to her grandchildren—Ana Maria, Adriana, Jessica, Alexandra, James, Lauren, Logan, Isabel, and William—and her great-grandchildren—Aubrey, Aidan, Sterling, Sabrina, and Sierra. Her nieces, nephews, and family in Spain were a joy to her. Her love, warmth, and stories will continue to be shared and remembered by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday 31 January 2025, St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude in honor of Maria's lifelong dedication and love for children.
Arrangements are under the care of Asa Smith Funeral Services of Harrah. Online condolence may be made at www.asasmith.net
