MARTHA HOPCUS

Martha Helen Hopcus, 96, of Harrah, passed safely into the Arms of her Savior Friday, June 2, 2023 in Harrah. Martha was born July 2, 1926, in Oklahoma County, to Frank and Frances (Kupczynski) Magott.

She was raised and attended school in Choctaw. She went to work as a telephone operator for several years before working as a secretary for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.

She married Bill Hopcus in 1946 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, Harrah, where she was an active member. She retired in 1991 after 25 years of service with the DHS to care for Bill. Martha was a member of the Polish Club and a devoted member of the Harrah Historical Society.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother Leon Magott..

Those left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life include her son Paul and wife Martha Hopcus of Harrah; two grandchildren Candice and Nickolas Hopcus.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 7 at the funeral home. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. that evening at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church immediately followed by a Wake Service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, also at St. Teresa Catholic Church, followed by burial in the St. Teresa Catholic Cemetery under direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.
