Mary Ellen Fortelney

Mary Ellen Fortelney, 90, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away on January 23, 2020 in McLoud, OK. She was born August 27, 1929 to Joseph and Lillie Opal (Beal) Manek Higdon in Harrah, Ok. She married Leo Fortelney in Harrah, OK. June 23, 1951. She was a member of St. Teresa of Avilla Catholic Church. Mary worked at Liberty National Bank for 38 years in Bookkeeping and in Safekeeping. She liked working in her flower beds, especially her roses and canning pickles from her vegetable garden. She enjoyed dancing and taking care of her grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Husband; Leo Fortelney Sr, one brother Mac "Poojack" Higdon and one sister; Carolyn Higdon. Survivors include daughter; Beverly Winstead and husband Ralph of Harrah, sons Leo Fortelney Jr. and wife Terry of Harrah; son Gary Fortelney and wife Dawn of Harrah. two brothers; Joe Manek of Harrah and Larry Higdon of Choctaw, one sister; Evelyn Fugate of Harrah, 6 grandchildren; Ryan, Chad, Nicholas, Cheryl Ann, Justin, and Staci and twelve great-grandchildren. The Rosary and Wake service will be at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Harrah on Jan. 27, 2020 at 6:45 P.M. and Mass of Christian Burial on Jan. 28 at 10:00 A.M with interment to follow at St. Teresa Catholic Cemetery.
