Mary F Wanzer

August 16, 1938 — January 9, 2021

Mary F. Wanzer of Newalla, OK entered into rest and peace on January 9, 2021 in McLoud, OK and was reunited with her many fur babies at the Rainbow Bridge. She was born on August 16, 1938 in Frederick, OK to C. T. and Dessie Coombs. Mary attended school there until 10th grade, then moved to Midwest City, OK where she lived with her sister and brother-in-law Audrey and Lillian Haynie. She graduated from Midwest City High School in 1956 and married Lewis Wanzer in October 1956 in Vernon, TX. They were married almost 51 years. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and Granny. She loved to bake and make candy at Christmas. Mary also loved spending time with her grandkids. She spent many summers with them at the pool and Frontier City, sometimes in the same day. She also loved to do embroidery and learned to crochet later in life. She made many baby blankets, afghans and bedspreads, Mary is preceded in death by parents C. T and Dessie Coombs; her husband Lewis Wanzer; a son Phillip Wanzer of Minneapolis, KS; daughter in law Toni Wanzer; sister and brother in law Lillian and Audrey Haynie; niece Nita Jane Haynie; sister Jean Quiroz; brother Clarence “Sonny” Coombs; brother in laws Tim Holt and Jack Waldron. Mary is survived by her daughter Malinda Walker and husband Bruce (“whom she liked better at times”) and considered him a son, of Newalla; four grandchildren, Jedediah Wanzer and wife Ashley of Minneapolis, KS, Brandi Webster and husband Scottie of Byars, OK, Jeri Brown and husband Casey of Minneapolis, KS, Jolene McGrath and husband Andrew of Royce City, TX, grandpup Shelby Rose; 8 great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Grant, Vivian, Dylana, Wyatt, Hunter, Jett and Merrick; and two sisters, Loretta Holt and Mickie Waldron, both of Altus, OK and one grand-pup, Shelby Rose. Private graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah.
