Michael Shane Hoyt, 49, of McLoud departed for distant shores on Saturday July 31, 2021, after an 18-month struggle with cancer. Michael was born to Anne Murray and Ken Hoyt on February 22, 1972 in Joplin, MO. After graduating from Del City High School, Michael pursued many passions including learning to fly, caring for elders as a home health aide, and publishing short works of fantasy and horror fiction. In August 2000, Michael married Cassie Gibson, his wife of 21 years, with whom he has three sons. When his children began to reach school age, Michael dedicated himself to educating them at home, sharing with them his love of reading and history. In between teaching his sons and caring for his beloved cats, he investigated a wide variety of subjects and made hobbies of flint knapping, studying the 18th century British Navy, and pencil drawing. Michael is survived by his wife, Cassie, and their three sons Saxon, Carrick, and Finnegan; his mother Anne Murray; his father Ken Hoyt; brother Thomas Hoyt; and a broad array of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his step-father Dennis Murray. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2021, at the Asa Smith Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah. The casket will be closed at all times but friends may pay their respects Thursday 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are being made through Asa Smith Funeral Service of Harrah. Online condolences may be made at www.asasmith.net
