Mitchel Lee Hunter

Mitchel Lee Hunter, 65, of Harrah, passed at his home in Harrah, Sunday, July 9, 2023. Mitchel was born January 16, 1958, in Liberal, Kansas, to Dick and Virginia (Lindsay) Hunter. The family later moved to Norman, where Mitchel graduated from Norman High School in 1976. He later joined the United State Navy, serving from 1977-81. Mitchel later joined the Norman Fire Department as a driver. He passed the driving test on his first try with a score of 100%. He served the fire department until he was injured in an accident. Mitchel loved his family and extended family and doted on his grandchildren. He was very proud of his service to his country, of being apart of the United States Navy and the Norman Fire Department. Mitchel, later owned and operated MVP Pizza in Blanchard for several years. He loved being outdoors riding on his Harley or just sitting beside a river or lake fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Virgie Hunter, and sister Kim Hunter-Davis.

Survivors include his daughters, Jennifer and husband Jeremy Ratti of Newalla, Tonya Castro and companion Rodney Stithem of Midwest City; brothers Lindsay and Mary Hunter of Spain, Ben and Rhonda Hunter of Tulsa; grandchildren Shae, Ember, Skylar, William Lee, Destany Carlie, Jakob Lee, Zachary, Conner and Cyla; and dear friend Clayton Atchley.

Friends may pay their respects 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 14, at the funeral home. Memorial services are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2023, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel of Harrah.
