NELLIE BOWEN OBIT Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister Nellie Bowen, 85, of Harrah, left this life on February 21, 2018 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was Born January 22, 1933 in Meeker, OK. to Charles Ernest and Rebecca Gentry Williams. Nellie was raised in Ryan, OK with her 7 brothers and sisters. Nellie enjoyed gardening both flowers and vegetables. She married Clyde Bowen in Nicoma Park on February 11, 1967, and has lived in the Harrah area for the past 50 years since moving from Midwest City. She ran a farm with her husband until he passed, then continued with her daughter and granddaughters for many years. She always thought of others before herself. She was very giving, and cared very deeply for her family. Nellie had a passion for the Thunder basketball team and has always loved O.U. football. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Clyde Bowen who left this life on May 5, 1997, two sisters; Mary Sossamon, Mary Vershon and one brother James Williams. She is survived by her only daughter, Melanie Thomas of Harrah, two granddaughters; Jordan and Grace Thomas both of Harrah, one sister Bessie Waters and her husband Neal of San Diego, CA. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday February 27, 2018 at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel in Harrah, OK, with Interment to follow at New Hope Cemetery, Meeker, OK.
