Olen E O'Bryant

Olen Earnest O’Bryant, 79, of Choctaw, passed Friday, December 1, 2023, at the St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. Olen was born June 4, 1944, in St. Louis, Oklahoma, to James Janson and Elma Eunice (Patterson) O’Bryant. He was reared and educated in St. Louis. He loved to joke with those he knew about “pitching for St. Louis”. Olen married Carolyn Milburn on June 7, 1963. The couple made their home “where the work was”. Olen was a longtime member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 344. He worked as a pipe-fitter on many large projects in the Oklahoma City area including the Myriad, Firestone Plant, General Motors Plant, Mercy and St. Anthony Hospitals, several refineries and other large construction projects in the state and around the country. The family settled in the Choctaw/Harrah area in the late 70’s where they raised their children. After retirement Olen loved to feed the area wildlife and tend his garden. He truly enjoyed being in God’s Great Outdoors. He was a faithful member of the Harrah Church of Christ and studied his Bible with passion.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Tony, Glen and Newton, and a sister Lois Redfield.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn of the home; daughter Ella and husband Mike Dyer of Wellston, sons Glen O’Bryant of Texarkana, Texas, and Alen O’Bryant of Helena; a sister Doris Ann Hines; three grandsons Joseph and wife Tiffany Dyer, Andrew and wife Carly Dyer and Terry O’Bryant; three great-granddaughters Kinley, Willow and Aria Dyer.

Friends may come and pay their respects Friday 2:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Dale Cemetery. Mr. Stephen Coley will officiate.
