PAULINE B. BURKS

Pauline Bernal Burks, 83, of Harrah passed from this life with her husband and daughter at her side to a joyous reunion with loved ones in Heaven on November 7, 2024. She was born to Elias and Amelia Bernal in San Antonio, TX on June 29, 1941, and graduated from Edgewood High School, San Antonio, in 1959.

She was employed by the Civil Service in 1962 for 31 years before retiring.

Pauline loved her family and enjoyed taking family trips and having her family around her. She loved to read, watch TV and prepare her special Mexican dishes. She enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys (until Tom Landry left), the Texas Longhorns and Kansas City Chiefs football. She enjoyed bowling and still had her bowling ball and shoes.

Perhaps her greatest joy, however, was being involved in the lives of granddaughters Katie and Ashley King and their many activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Gloria, Amelia and Teresa and a brother Henry.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Charlie, a daughter Lisa King and husband Danny of Harrah; two sons, John Burks of Harrah and Charlie III Burks of Shawnee; Grandchildren Brian Smith (Courtney), Sara Smith (Anthony Shriver), Brandon Smith (Cheyenne Simmons), Ashley King, Katie King, Dawson Burks, Isabella Burks, Gabby Burks, Jordan Burks and great-grandchildren Emma Smith, Jett Smith, Maverick Smith, Wyatt Smith, Sloan Smith and Sophia Shriver.

Friends may greet the family 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah,  followed by interment in Memory Lane Cemetery.
