Raymond E Nickel

Raymond E. Nickel, 83, of Harrah, died Thursday, September 9, 2021, at St Anthony’s Medical Center of Oklahoma City. A prayer service will be held at graveside at St. Teresa of Avila cemetery in Harrah on Thursday, September 16, at 10:00 a.m. The family requests all attending to wear masks and practice social distancing. The casket will be closed at all times Raymond was born in Harrah, on August 5, 1938, to Peter & Belbenia Nickel. He was a lifelong Harrah resident & member of St. Teresa of Avila parish. Raymond attended parochial school at St. Teresa's & graduated from Harrah High School in 1956. His friends from these years remained dear to him through his life. In 1959, he married his high school sweetheart Sue & he missed her greatly when she passed away in 2017. Raymond worked for Oklahoma Natural Gas Company for 36 years retiring in 1996. The loves of his life included his wife, his family, & his Catholic faith. He enjoyed all things out of doors from gardening to crappie fishing, quail hunting, & camping. Raymond valued his community and the company he worked for and always enjoyed meeting new people. Raymond & Sue loved to dance to Country music & Western Swing while teaching many others in the area to dance. Raymond & Sue could be counted on help get the dancing started at any party or gathering. They made many dear friends near and far as they traveled to dance in TX & OK. Raymond was preceded in death by his mother, father, & his beloved wife and dance partner of 58 years, Sue. Raymond is survived by his son Tony & his wife Cindi of Harrah. He is also survived by his brother Paul & wife Charlette Nickel & their children Michael, Jennifer, Eric, and Melissa.
