Robenie "Rj" Wayne Long

Robenie Wayne "RJ" Long, of McLoud, Oklahoma, passed away after sacrificing himself to save another. RJ was 20 years old and was born on November 24, 2002 in Dallas, Texas. He is the son of Kelly Ann (Shasteen) Long. RJ was a 2021 graduate of McLoud High School, a student at Rose State College and a proud US Marine.


While attending high school at McLoud, RJ was in wrestling, a record setting power lifter and a member of the McLoud Football Team, Go Redskins!. Following his high school graduation, RJ proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, where he was sent to Camp Pendleton for Basic Training. Lance Corporal RJ Long, 0352 Anti-Tank Missleman, a member of the 2nd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division. RJ returned home, where he was active in the Marine Reserves and enrolled at Rose State College in Midwest City. RJ was pursuing a degree in Christian Apologetics and was looking forward to being a personal fitness trainer. RJ also worked for several years at Braums in Harrah, Oklahoma.


RJ was known for his caring spirit and his call to service. He loved to help people and had a passion for caring for people both physically and spiritually. RJ was someone that many leaned on to share their troubles and to get advice. He had a great sense of community and adventure. He was very disciplined and motivated and had a great sense of humor.


In his spare time, RJ enjoyed gaming. He had over a thousand subscribers to his YouTube Gaming Channel. He loved his animals, two dogs, Chupa and Kota and his beloved cat, Kilo. He also loved his green and black Ford Mustang. RJ's greatest passion was his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and going to the gym three to four times a day, achieving a very impressive bench press of 405lbs. He had a way of reaching people and leading them to the Lord. He lead many in person but also lead some to Christ through his gaming channel. RJ was a loving son, brother, uncle, boyfriend and friend and will be missed by many.


RJ was preceded in death by his grandfather, Olen Wayne Shasteen.


Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Kelly Ann Long; his significant other, Kadi Thompson; his brother, Sgt. Shelby Long; his brother, Cody Long and his twin brother, Skylar Long and his fiance Mary Barron; his sister, Mykell Long Simmons and her husband, Quinton; two nieces, Skylee Long and Faith Simmons and two nephews on the way, Kai Cooper Wayne Long and Kasen Wayne Simmons; his grandmother, Nickie Shasteen, two uncles, Kevin Shasteen and Greg Shasteen and host of family and friends.
