RONALD ROWLAND
On Friday, January 27, 2023, time stopped and a new journey began for Ronald Rowland, 74, of Midwest City. He was born June 26, 1948, to Arch Rowland and Nina McCarthey Rowland in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School and then joined the United States Air Force. He reached the rank of Sergeant and served his country at several different Air Force bases. He also attended Central State College (now UCO).
He was a salesman in the automotive parts department of Britton Brothers, which later became Genuine Auto Parts. He had a passion for bowling and was inducted into the International Bowling Museum Hall of Fame in 2000 and awarded a Ring of 300 for bowling a perfect game.
Ron never met a stranger and was always with family or friends. He was a devoted husband, daddy, grandpa, brother, father in law and friend to many. Ron enjoyed bingo, vacations, fishing, watching OKC Blazer hockey games, street stock car racing, and was a Big NASCAR fan. He was a hero and a role model for his daughter and grandson and many others. He especially enjoyed taking his grandson on new adventures, including Bass Pro adventures, bowling, and Dutch Brothers coffee when Nathaniel got older.
Ron and his daughter Michelle never missed their annual Christmas shopping adventure. He greatly enjoyed riding his 750 Honda with his sweetheart Shirley on the back. But, sadly, had to later sell it because his baby girl didn't like it.
At the Choctaw Church of Christ, he taught classes, organized the Men's Breakfast, was a song leader and anything else that needed to be done.
He was a true person, what you saw was what you got. He was there for everyone. I couldn't slow him down and I was along for the ride...and it was a grand one. I loved him SO much. Our song was "Color My World." That you did, Ron, I will always love you and miss you.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Survivors include his wife Shirley; a daughter Michelle and husband Matthew Stites of Harrah; one grandson, Nathaniel Stites of Harrah; a sister Jeanette and husband Charles Alexander of Moore; and a sister in law Theresa Hastings of Choctaw.
No services are planned. Arrangements were under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah.
