ROSALIE D. MANWELL
Renowned china-porcelain artist Rosalie D. Manwell, 93, a lifelong resident of Harrah, passed from this life to her rewards in Heaven and a grand reunion with a host of family and friends on October 3, 2023, in Harrah. She was born in Harrah to Wayne Roosevelt Doxie and Mabel Marie Malaska Doxie on September 18, 1930.
Rosalie was a member of both the band and choir while in school and graduated from Harrah High School in 1948. Rosalie and Harold Manwell were married on February 26,1949, also in Harrah.
And although she gained fame and recognition both locally, statewide, nationally, and internationally for her skills as an artist, she was happiest as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and farmer’s wife. Harold never had any trouble getting workers at the farm because they knew they would have a home-cooked meal prepared by Rosalie at noon. She also worked for Dr. Giles and at Tinker AFB during those early years.
Rosalie was a loving and kind person, who was a self-proclaimed Child of the Depression who brought the lessons learned into the Present. She was a skillful and accomplished artist who was always delighted to teach and train others. Rosalie was a lifelong member of the choir at Harrah United Methodist Church and faithful church member.
She was president of local, state, and national painting organizations and shared her talents with anyone who was interested. Rosalie was also a highly skilled seamstress and took great pride in her children, their children and grandchildren, their friends and other family members.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold, her parents, and a sister Ruby Craiger.
