Ruth Carolyn Kenepp

Ruth Carolyn Kenepp, 74, of Midwest City, OK, passed from this life to her reward in Heaven on July 3, 2019 in Harrah, OK. She was born June 16, 1945 in Timberville, VA to David Owen and Vernona J. (Summers) Mathias. She met her husband Fred Kenepp through a friend and wrote letters to him while he was off at sea with the Navy. Ruth attended business college in Toledo, Ohio and worked as a data entry/receptionist for Alside Aluminum Co. and later for Edwin Shaw Rehab Center in Akron as a receptionist and then volunteered at the Edwin Shaw Golf Course in Akron, Ohio, where they lived for 53 years. Two of their children, Scott and Jane, were born there. She and Fred enjoyed playing golf together, although they played differently. She enjoyed having a cup of coffee with Fred every morning. They enjoyed supporting their kids in sports as they were growing up and recently moved to Midwest City to be near family. They enjoyed visiting her in-laws on weekends and Ruth enjoyed being outside. She enjoyed supporting the Ohio State Buckeyes, making cherry pies, participating in church activities and shopping with friends, Sue, Connie and Colleen. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Louise Hoover. Survivors include her husband, Fred Kenepp of Midwest City; a son Scott and wife Anita Kenepp of Newalla; a daughter Jane and husband Frank Shenigo of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Randy and wife Emily Kenepp of Midwest City, Matthew and wife Natalie Shenigo of Akron, Ohio and Jennifer Shenigo of Daytona Beach, FL; and five great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Kamryn, Braylon, Madelyn and Ephriam; and three brothers, Gary Mathias of Hawaii, Dennis Mathias of Jackson, MS and Doug Mathias of Ohio. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 8 at 11 a.m. in Asa Smith Memorial Chapel at Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah.
